This is a digital pattern for a nutcracker quilt. The Nutcracker image is the entire quilt top, not just a block. The pattern does come with instructions for 3 sizes: small 24x28 inch a perfect Holiday wall hanging, or medium 36x42, or a large 48x56 lap quilt.

As with all Counted Quilts patterns the image is created in a stripped and pieced fashion.
Step 1: Rotary cut 1-3 different widths of strips for each color.
Step 2: Crosscut those sets of strips into different length pieces. And label alphabetically.
Shaping is done with half square triangles in the quick corner, or snowball, method. Marking the back of all triangle pieces.
Step 3: Piece the top together row by row with straight 1/4 inch seams.
It is as easy as that, all straight cutting all straight seams. This is a fun and easy way to create and image style quilt top.

This design was originally requested by a customer, who thought it would make a cute holiday wall hanging. It would also be a great lap quilt for those who like me grew up with a collection of Nutcrackers displayed at Christmas time.

One image shows the nutcracker using very simple fabrics, but you can have some fun with scraps using them for the presents, or ornaments. Fun Holiday borders can also add a lot to the look of this quilt.
